Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a very young man and then began teaching others. 

Mat work is a great choice for everyone from Pilates beginners to advanced students because the exercises not only can build in difficulty, but every exercise can be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge. Practicing Pilates helps build a strong, balanced body and increases flexibility. As you progress you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, stress management, and body awareness. Mat Pilates is perfect for beginners because you only need your own body, a mat, and some water.

  • Beginner Pilates Mat

    Beginner Mat Pilates class is designed for someone who has never taken Pilates class before or for someone who is returning to Pilates after a long break.

    Beginner Mat Pilates class focus on:

    – Basic Principles

    – Mobilisation of spine

    – Mobilisation of shoulders and hips

    – Initial strengthening of abdominals

  • Plus Beginner Pilates Mat

    This class is for someone who have already completed a Beginners Pilates course and want to Progress and improve on their core strength, mobility and flexibility at safe, yet more challenging speed.

    This class works on correcting posture and strengthening core muscles. Expect progressions on Beginners set of exercises and preparation exercises for an Improver/Intermediate level.

  • Improver Pilates Mat

    Improver Pilates class is more challenging form of Pilates in comparison to the beginners class were learning and understanding of the techniques is the main focus.

    This workout is designed for someone who have mastered the basics of Pilates. This Pilates classes require a full understanding and awareness of the mind-body connection.

    Expect Intermediate set of mat Pilates exercises progressed by increasing the intensity, variety, control, precision and number of repetitions. True body-weight Pilates Mat challenge.

  • Strength & Tone Mat

    Strength & Tone is open level class from advanced Beginner and beyond. Expect use of small equipment such as Pilates mini ball, resistance band, flexi band or small weights. The class is meant to be a dynamic workout through the entire body. Build Strength & Tone with Pilates!

    Note: this class is not suitable for people with acute or chronic injuries or beginners.
